Sumernet enlisted Toneyes to create a booklet design for their Sumernet 2018 Annual Report. One of the requirements that the organization set was that the booklet design had to be creative and have attractive visual statistics. As such, together with Sumernet, we had designed and produced a unique annual report.
About Sumernet
Sustainable Mekong Research Network, or better known as Sumernet, is an environmental organization under the government of Sweden. Under this organization, research partners conduct research on sustainable development in the Mekong region. The results obtained from the research are sent to policymakers, planners, and stakeholders in the region to inform and engage them about the current conditions of the Mekong region and to influence sustainable development policies in the region (Thailand, Cambodia, China, Vietnam, Lao PDR, and Myanmar).Sustainable Mekong Research Network, or better known as Sumernet, is an environmental organization under the government of Sweden. This organization is funded by the Stockholm Environment Institute, or also known as SEI.
Publication Design Process
To create the publication design for SEI, we first had to understand their specifications and requirements. After discussing with their team, our graphic design team decided to create the publication design in A5 size.
After determining the size of the booklet, our team concentrated on creating the publication layout for all 100 pages. This meant our graphic design team had to decide the overall look of the booklet, which includes deciding the color scheme and font style, while keeping in mind that the publication design had to be both informative and attractive. Afterwards, our team did the formatting and page layout integration of the booklet.
Lastly, after completing the publication design, our agency printed the booklets and supervised the printing to ensure the final product is what we wanted.
Booklet Design Process
To create the SEI booklet design, our graphic design team brainstormed various design ideas for the booklet. After brainstorming, our team decided to keep its professional look while adding colors mainly to the diagrams and topic pages. This meant our team had to redesign all statistic designs from conservative diagrams to creative, visually appealing diagrams. However, our team had to also make sure the diagrams were not only attractive but also informative and understandable. By doing so, it allows the readers to visualize the results and understand the report better.
After consulting with the Sumernet team, the booklet design was done in A5 format. After the size was confirmed, our graphic design team immediately formatted the pages and integrated the page layouts.
Booklet Design Printing
After completing the design, our graphic design team sent it to the printers. However, our agency made sure to supervise the printing to ensure that the final product matches the booklet design, is of high quality, and meets our standards.
